Chosen by One Day Bridal

One Day has cemented itself within the fashion industry as a leader of uniquely designed wedding gowns. Constantly pushing the boundaries of traditional bridal.

Kyha, the founder and creative director of One Day Bridal, has inspired her designs from her personal experiences as a bride. She was tired of tulle and traditional gowns and endeavoured to create a brand that reflected her personal style.

She wanted brides to have an alternative option to the traditional white gown and and unforgettable experience in the process. Her eye for detail, stunning silhouettes and contagious personality has helped brides find their way down the aisle.

Questions & Answers

As I went through the journey of finding my own wedding dress seven years ago now I really struggled finding something that was ‘me’. I finally ended up having a gown custom designed, however, I found the process difficult and disappointing. From this experience, I identified so many misconceptions about what a bride should’ look like. So I took a leap of faith and created a brand that was not your typical wedding brand.

I started One Day Bridal to create gowns for the fashion forward bride. Women who aren’t afraid to take risks and stand out from the rest. A One Day bride is a woman with power and confidence and I feel that this is reflected in my designs.

I like bold, modern pieces paired with the basics. A pair of jeans and a t-shirt are my go to’s but I like to add fun jacket or structured blazer to elevate the look.

Oooo I have so many but Christian Dior is defiantly one of my favourites.

I love what I do and I love working with such an amazing team. I like to be innovative and work with new fabrics and textures. In this day and age with social media being so big, I think it pushes you to always strive to do better and work on the next big thing, which gives me my motivation.

There is nothing more rewarding for me then seeing a bride on her wedding day wearing my designs. It is one of the best feelings in the world.

Low Backs and sexy silhouettes are everywhere at the moment. I also think that big tulle skirts and ball gowns are making a huge come back and we will be seeing a lot more of them over the next few seasons.

Since I started One Day, a lot has changed, and a lot has also remained constant. Over the last five years, the number of non-traditional weddings has grown. Brides are now taking more risks and looking for a wedding gown that truly represents them and their style. The demand for non-traditional wedding gowns internationally has also evolved since I started out. Whilst visiting New York Bridal Fashion Week last October it was so humbling to hear how the rest of the world looks towards Australia and their designers as front-runners in bridal fashion. This has certainly inspired me to continue to work towards designing wedding gowns with a point of difference.

Don’t overwork your hair & make up on the big day. You should be the very best version of yourself and not a different person all together.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Relax and enjoy the day. Stick to the look you created with your stylist and enjoy putting it all together. Brides need to be conscious of trends but also mindful of what silhouettes flatter & work on them.

We are currently working on taking CHOSEN international. We already have a number of stockists in the US, but we are in the process of taking the brand further and expanding the ready-to-wear side. We are also looking working really hard on developing our own fabrics to ensure we stand out from the rest.
